I just lost a cousin to cancer. She was a devout Christian Scientist and refused to seek medical treatment. She left behind two very young boys. I think it is terrible. While I respect her religion, I think her choices were very selfish. Is anyone here a Christian Scientist? If so, can you explain how my cousin could have let this happen???

Why she didnt seek medical help? By going to a doctor or any medical person would show a lack of faith in her beliefs.
If you were to believe her religion, going to the hospital would expose that lack of faith that one would have in god.. I use the little g form of God here due to the fact that not using the whole means of creation (intelligence, medical science ex.) to help with healing is only relying on the small part of ones emotional side. If you believe in God or a higher power all the resources of the world should be available to be used not showing a lack of faith but to enhance that faith as to believe God provides all for man.
